Danny Garcia vs Lamont Peterson April 11th

The mouthpiece drops to the canvas, as the sweat flies into the front row onto the spectators looking on. A devastating left hook is thrown landing bull’s eye on the chin of his opponent. He turned his whole body into it ending any momentum built up while planting a man on the canvas. Sheep are being counted, and the lights from the cameras flash in concert as Danny Swift Garcia stands over his opposition looking down. DSG steps to a neutral corner, but the stroll is not necessary the referee has waved it off with no ten count needed.

There was vicious and malicious intentions behind that hook nothing fortuitous so do not get it twisted. Another one bites the dust courtesy of another member from the long lineage of great Philadelphia fighters. At (29-0 17 kos) Danny Garcia the WBA and WBC champ has walked that walk.

However, on April 11th as Garcia stands in he will be lacing them up against a highly skilled Lamont Peterson at a catch weight of (143lbs). If you think this is an easy fight for Garcia then you officially “DO NOT KNOW S#it ABOUT BOXING”. Lamont Peterson (33-2-1 17 kos) cannot be overlooked in any sense. Peterson fought his way up the ranks the hard way no free meals were given. No fireworks or bright lights to get here, but the boy can flat out fight. Peterson has the ring acumen of a focused professional. He can work from top to bottom, and his savvy is immediately noticeable. From Washington D.C Peterson is an exceptional well rounded fighter that can turn defense into offense and now a high powered showdown with Danny Garcia is ubiquitous.

As a part of Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series these two clever fighters will get it on while one will definitely move up the food chain and boxing hierarchy. The other though will be in a position of having to bounce back something a fighter never wants to have to do. Aggression respects aggression but in this fight the man who makes the biggest snafu or miscalculation may wind up on the short end of a big event.

Danny Garcia is coming off a jaw dropping knockout over Rod Salka in August. Over his career DSG has pulled off wins over Lucas Matthysse, Zab Judah, Amir Khan, Erik Morales twice, Kendall Holt, Nate Campbell, Mike Arnoutous, and Ashley Theophane. Just under a year ago Garcia fought Mauricio Herrera to a controversial Split Decision win in Puerto Rico in which some people thought Herrera did enough to win.

For Lamont Peterson the only losses on his resume are to Lucas Matthysse and Timothy Bradley. He had a draw against Victor Ortiz in 2010 in which he had to get up off the canvas twice. In Peterson’s last two fights against Edgar Santana and Dierry Jean respectably Peterson stopped Santana on the same card Garcia stopped Salka on to set up this clash. Peterson out boxed Dierry Jean in January of 2014, and during his ten year career he has beaten Amir Khan in a close Split Decision triumph also he has wins over Kendall Holt and Victor Manuel Cayo. A win against Danny Garcia would be the biggest win for him so far, but that will be a difficult task to pull off.

There have been rumblings of Marcos Maidana wanting to fight Danny Garcia if Garcia can get past Lamont Peterson. But, getting past is not going to be so easy this we know. Danny Garcia vs Lamont Peterson is a solid fight.
